Hightlights of the show

ImageEurovision Song Contest 2017 - PED Cure:  Another chapter in the book of the Eurovision Song Contest has been written as the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 took place in Kyiv's International Exhibition Centre, Ukraine on 09 & 11 May 2017 with the two Semi Finals and the Grand Final on Saturday, 13 May 2017. Congratulations go to Salvador and Luisa Sobral for winning the Eurovision Song Contest for Portugal for the very first time with the song "Amar pelos dois (Love for both of us)". Over the next few weeks into the summer of 2017 Radio International provides the perfect Post Eurovision Depression Cure (PED) and broadcasts many of the interviews on the shows to come with the Eurovision artists from Kyiv and more. Enjoy and don't be sad - the next Eurovision is around the corner. :)

Image Interview with Ruslana (Eurovision Winner 2004, Ukraine):  Back in 2004 Ruslana won the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Wild Dances" and from then onwards she has never been out of the media and has been very much engaged in the politics in Ukraine but also has been invited to be on various juries and national finals to the Eurovision Song Contest. Thanks to Jamala winning the contest in 2016 for Ukraine brought the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 back to Kyiv and Ruslana used the chance to release a new project that she introduced to the media and also performed during the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 - " It's Magical". Listen to an interview with the Eurovision Winner about this new project on this week's edition of Radio International. You can also watch this interview on our YouTube Channel - click here

ImageInterview with Imri (Israel 2017):  Israel's musical Ambassador at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 was Imri who performed the song "I feel alive" which successfully qualified Israel for the Grand Final which then also opened up the Grand Final on Saturday 13 May 2017. Unfortunately, at the end of the voting sequence the song ended up at Number 23. Radio International's JP and Eugene met the singer during the rehearsal week and had the chance of an interview you can hear on this week's edition of Radio International. You can also watch this interview on our YouTube Channel - click here

ImageInterview with Koit Toome and Laura (Estonia 2017):  Estonia's musical representatives at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 Koit Toome and Laura are no strangers to the Eurovision stage since they have been there before. Laura in fact was part of the girl group Suntribe which represented Estonia back in 2005 in Kyiv with the song "Let's get loud" which failed to qualify for the final back then. Koit Toome had it a bit easier as back in 1998 when he represented Estonia with the song "Mere Lapsed" reaching Number 12 and there was no Semi Final. Unfortunately, in 2017 Estonia failed to qualiy for the Grand Final with the song "Verona" only ending up at Number 14 in Semi Final 2. JP of Radio International talked to the singers during the Nordic Party and you can hear this interview on the show this week. Enjoy! You can also watch this interview on our YouTube Channel - click here

ImageInterview with Svala (Iceland 2017):  Another great song entered by Iceland to the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 performed by Svala - "Paper" unfortunately did not make it to the Grand Final and reached Number 15 in Semi Final 1. A very interesting person - Svala lives in the USA and also is a fashion designer. Her father Bo Halldorsson represented Iceland at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1995 with the song "Nuna" reaching Number 15. Bo could also be seen on the Eurovision Song Contest this year presenting the Iceland Jury's Votes. Listen to the interview that JP and Eugene of Radio International did with Svala during the rehearsal week in Kyiv. You can also watch this interview on our YouTube Channel - click here

ImageInterview with Manel (Spain 2017):  Spains representative to the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 was Manel performing the song "Do it for your lover" which unfortunately ended last on the Eurovision 2017 Scoreboard at the end of the Jury's Vote and the Public Vote. Spain is part of the Big Five and with this automatically qualfied for the Grand Final. However, enjoy the interview that Eugene and JP of Radio International did with the young singer from sunny Spain.  Due to lack of time this interview has been postoned to next week's edition of Radio International. Sorry for the inconvenience.

ImageInterview with Christer Bjoerkman (Sweden 1992, Eurovision Song Contest Producer):  After the resgination of 21 members of the Core Team who supposeded to set up the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine earlier on this year Swedish Television SVT including Christer Bjoerkman were asked to once again rescue the contest in taking over the production with the colleagues of Ukrainian State TV. After a hugely successful edition of the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm, Sweden and yet another amazing edition of Melodifestivalen 2017 in Stockholm earlier on in March which was won by Robin Bengtsson the process in Kyiv started to shape up and the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 was a huge success again thanks to Christer Bjoerkman and his team from SVT and other countries production Teams. Christer Bjoerkman himself represented Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 1992. During the rehearsal week JP had a chance to chat with Christer on the development of Eurovision 2017 and his exact role in the production of the contest. Listen to this interview on the show this week. You can also watch this interview on our YouTube Channel - click here
