Interview with Poli Genova (Bulgaria 2011 and 2016): The best ever placed result for Bulgaria at the Eurovision Song Contest as
Poli Genova with the song
"If love was a crime"
came fourth at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with a total of 307
points. Poli is no stranger to the fan base of the Eurovision Song
Contest since she represented Bulgaria already once before in 2011 with
the song "
Na inat" which unfortunately at that time did not
qualify Bulgaria for the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest and
reached Number 12 in the Semi Final 2. However, in 2016 Poli achieved
the best ever result for Bulgaria at the Eurovision Song Contest
reaching Number 4 with "
If love was a crime". Further Poli also
hosted the Junior Eurovision Song
Contest 2015 last December from Sofia, Bulgaria and was also on the
guest list at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Malta being the
Interval Act. Radio International's JP caught up with the singer during
the rehearals.

Eurovision Song Contest Spotlight - Ukraine as Host of the Eurovision Song Contest 2005: Last week we finished the mini series on Radio International as
our Eurovision correspondents took a look at the Eurovision entries from
Ukraine since Ukraine will be hosting the Eurovision Song Contest 2017
following
Jamala's victory in Stockholm at the 61st edition of the contest with the song "
1944".
Ukraine initially won the Eurovision Song
Contest in 2004 after their second attempt as Ukraine only joined the
Eurovision family back in 2003. The Winning Song of Ukrain's first
victory was "
Wild Dances" performed by
Ruslana when the
Eurovision Song Contest 2004 came from Istanbul, Turkey. Just recently,
it was decided that the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 will be hosted once
again by Ukraine's capital city Kiev on May 09 & 11 for the Semi
Final 1 and 2 and the Grand Final to take place on May 13. In 2005 Kiev also hosted the Eurovision Song Contest and
Alasdair Rendall of Radio International will be taking a look at some of the highlights in that Eurovision Song Contest.
