The Eurovision Song Contest 2016 is over and the best ever Eurovision
Song Contest was staged in the Globen Arena with two Semi Finals and a
Grand Final which was held on Saturday 14 May 2016. The 61st Eurovision
Song Contest was won by
Ukraine's
Jamala with the song "
1944".
Many fans of the Eurovision Song Contest fall into a deep Post
Eurovision Depression as it all is over and the fans part company until

Interview with Kaliopi (Macedonia 2016): She is one of the
biggest artists of her country and has been representing her country at
the Eurovision Song Contest before when in 2012 Loreen won for Sweden
with the song "
Euphoria" -
Kaliopi represented Macedonia back then with the song "
Crno E Belo"
which reached Number 13 in the Grand Final. Four years on the
Macedonian Superstar with a big heart returns to the Eurovision Song
Contest 2016 and represented Macedonia once more. This time it is with the
song "
Donna" she performed so passionately in Stockholm's
Globen Arena as Song Number 8 in Semi Final 2. Unfortunately, Kaliopi
could not qualify Macedonia into the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song
Contest 2016 as she ranked 11th in Semi Final 2 when only the Top Ten go
into the Final. JP and Fernando met Kaliopi for an interview after her

Interview with Zoe (Austria 2016): In the footsteps of The Makemakes who were Austria's entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 was
Zoe who won the national final in Austria with the song "
Loin d'ici"
performed in the French language. Zoe received the highest measures
of
applause after her performance at the various fan events such as
Eurovision in Concert in Amsterdam.
Austria will performed at Number 12 in Semi Final 1 in Stockholm on
10 May
2016 and could successfully qualify for the Grand Final where at the
end of the exciting voting sequence Austria ranked at Number 13. JP had
the pleasure to chat with Zoe after her press conference during the

Interview with Laura Tesoro (Belgium 2016): Following the great success of
Lois Nottet in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Vienna, in 2016 Belgium again had a success formula with young
Laura Tesoro who successfully qualified Belgium to the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song "
What's the pressure"
which ranked at Number 10 at the end of the Grand Final voting. Eric met the singer for an interview after her rehearsal and
press conference in Stockholm.
Interview with Sanhja (Finland 2016): Finland's Ambassador to the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 was
Sanhja
who unfortunately did not make it into the Grand Final. She ranked
14th in Semi Final 1 which is not enough to qualify Finland for
the Grand Final when only the Top Ten advance into the Grand Final.
The song was "
Sing it away"
opening up the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Semi Final 1. Radio
International's Fernando met the singer for a an interview after her
Press Conference during the rehearsal week.

Interview with ManuElla (Slovenia 2016): Slovenia was represented by
ManuElla performing the song "
Blue and Red"
which unfortunately only received 57 points in Semi Final 2 ranking
Slovenia at Number 14. Only the the Top 10 advanced to the Grand Final
of the Eurovision Song Contest. After ManuElla's first press conference
Fernando and JP of Radio International met the singer with for an

Tribute to Corry Brokken (Eurovision Winner 1957, The Netherlands):
Sad news reached the newsroom of Radio International after our show
from 01 June 2016 with the passing away of the first Dutch Winner of the
Eurovision Song Contest in 1957 -
Corry Brokken. She passed away
at the age of 83 and took part three times at the Eurovision Song
Contest. It was in the very first edition of Europe's biggest music
competition back in 1956 when Corry Brokken performed "
Voor goed voor bij".
There is no known ranking of the Eurovision Song Contest 1956 and only
the winning song was announced being Switzerland's Lys Assia with the
song "
Refrain". Then Corry returned to the contest in 1957 and then giving the Netherlands their first of four victories with the song "
Net als toen". In 1958, again the Netherlands were represented by Corry Brokken and then with the song "
Heel de wereld"
which reached 9th place in the Eurovision Song Contest back then. This
week Radio International's David Mann broadcasts on the show a special
30 minute tribute to Corry Brokken - Rest in Peace!
