Hightlights of the show

Iceland's history at the Eurovision Song Contest: This weekend Iceland celebrates their 30th Anniversary in taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest and also has the national final called "Söngvakeppnin". A number of artists went through two semi finals out of which three from each of the two semi finals advanced to the Grand Final where the six acts meet a Wild Card Act out of which the enty to the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 will be selected. Since JP and Eric from Eurovision Radio International is in Iceland a special show is done from there including the history of Iceland at the Eurovision Song Contest since 1986 up to now and also ther will be a preview of the songs competing in the Final on Saturday as broadcast by RUV. Enjoy this special look back at the second mosy successul country at the Eurovision Song Contest that has not yet won the contest. Malta being the most successul country not yet won the contest.  

Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2016:  The Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2016 is the national selection of Malta to select their entry to the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 to take place in Stockholm, Sweden come May. On Friday 22 January 2016 20 acts competed for the Top 14 place to advance to the Final which was held on Saturday, 23 January 2016. The Winner of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2016 is Ira Losco selected by six judges and the Maltese Public by Televoting. The event took place in the legendary Mediterrranean Conference Centre in Valetta, the same venue where Glen Vella won with "One Life" in 2011 and Debbie Scerri with "Let me fly" in 1997 and many others too. The show was organised and broadcast by Malta's Public Broadcasting Services - pbs and webcast also on eurovision.tv where you still can watch the show in case you missed it. Interview with Stefan Galea (Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2016):  One the 19 Semi Finalists of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2016 is Stefan Galeo who succesfully managed to qualify into the Semi Final was thrilled to bits and pieces to perform the song "Light up my life" penned by Swedish songwriters. Stefan has been having lots of success on Maltese radio with his rcent music but also took part in the Maltese selection to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in the past. Eurovision UnderCover:  This ever so popular feature on Radio International is David Mann's weekly edition of the Eurovision Cover Versions where David Mann from Eurovision Norwich will be intoducing some of the finest Eurovision Song Contest entries covered by other singers. Just be surprised. You will be hearing the actual song that has been on the Eurovision stage followed by the cover. Listeners are encouraged to send in their cover versions they came across over the years to share with the other fans tuning into the show. Alternatively, listeners can send in their request for a particular Eurovision covered song using this link. 

Eurovision Song Contest News: Nathan Waddell joins the team in the studio every week to bring you the news and the latest developments connected to the Eurovision Song Contest such as the National Finals or if it is music releases of Eurovision performers, special concerts, gossip, etc Nathan will have it all for us during the weekly edition of Radio International. Good luck and win a copy of a past Eurovision Song Contest Final on DVD or a dip into the Eurovision Goodies Bag. All you have to do is to identify the five clips with Artist, Song, Country and Year. Send your answers via the website's CONTACTs form. As for the quiz answers, you have two weeks time to crack the quiz after Radio International was aired live. That gives the chance for the listeners who were not able to join us live on Wednesdays to participate in the quiz and the draw for the prize. Good Luck!
