Eurovision Song Contest 2015 - The POST EUROVISION DEPRESSION Cure: What
an amazing 60th Eurovision Song Contest ORF and EBU staged in the
Wiener Stadthalle in three amazing shows with two Semi Finals and the
Grand Final on Saturday 23 May 2015. 40 countries competed with 20
countries making it into the Grand Final meeting the the Host Country
Austria as well as the Big 5 (France, Germany, Italy, Spain and United
Kingdom) plus special guest Australia. The 60th contest was won by Måns Zelmerloew from Sweden with the song "Heroes"
Many fans and journalists left Vienna with tears in their eyes saying
farewell to two weeks of a real good time departing from the Eurovision
Family for yet another year. The POST EUROVISION DEPRESSION (PED) has
conquered Europe and beyond and Eurovision Radio International is the
best cure for it week by week as we reflect on the Eurovision Song
Contest 2015 with broadcasting the many interviews done in Vienna. For
the results of the Semi Finals and the Grand Final please go to eurovision.tv or click here.
Interview with Ken Bruce (BBC Radio 2 Presenter): The
Eurovision Song Contest is a huge media event that also is covered by
many media in the various participating countries and beyond. The UK's
BBC has been broadcasting the contest since the early days in the 50s
and amongst Terry Wogan and later Graham Norton who do (did) the
commentating on BBC One TV the BBC also broadcasts the radio version to
the listeners in the United Kingdom and with 2015 was commentated by Ken
Bruce for 28 years. Ken is a very popular mid-morning presenter on BBC
Radio 2 and during the rehearsal week David Mann had the big pleasure to
meet Ken in the
Vienna Press Centre for an interview you can hear this week's edition
of Radio International. You can also watch this interview on our YouTube Channel - click here
Interview with Michele Perniola and Anita Simonccini (San Marino 2015): San
Marino is part of the Eurovision Song Contest since 2008 with three
participations by Valentina Monetta, however, four times for composer
Ralph Siegel who is also behind the San Marinese Eurovision entry for
2015. Following in the footsteps of Valentina to represent the tiny
state of San Marino at the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 the idea came up
to use the last two singers that competed at the Junior Eurovision Song
Contest. In 2013 San Marino debuted at the Junior Eurovision Song
Contest with Michele Perniola who came 13th with the song "O-o-O Sole intorno a me (Sunlight all around me)" and then in 2014 San Marino was represented at the Junior Eurovision by the Peppermints from which originates Anita Simoncini.
Both together became the Ambassadors of San Marino at the Eurovision
Song Contest 2015 with the song "Chain of Lights" which received 11
points in Semi Final 2 ranking them at Number 16. While in Vienna Radio
International inaugerated a new award called the "Mozard Award"
awarded for the shortest time span between taking part in the Junior
Eurovision and the Eurovision Song Contest. During the Press Conference
of San Marino this award was handed over to Anita and Michaele. Details
you can find out here. David Mann interviewed the singers at their hotel. Listen to this interview on this week's edition of Radio International. You can also watch this interview on our YouTube Channel - click here
Interview with Eduard Romanyuta (Moldova 2015): Officially the Ukraine was not part of the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 however, with the participation of Eduard Romanyuta
who is native Ukrainian the country is somehow part of this year's
contest. Eduard Romanyuta represented Moldova at the Eurovision Song
Contest 2015 with the song "I want your love" which opened up
Eurovision 2015 in Semi Final 1 just like in 2010 when Moldova started
with the Sunstroke Project and Olia Tira. :) Last year's entry from
Moldova was Cristina Scarlat with the song "Wild Soul" which
did
not bring the expected result, Moldova decided in a national final
for
an upbeat song by Eduard, however, also this upbeat song did not
bring the desired result for the delegation from Moldova as Eduard
Romanyuta and "I want your love" only could reach Number 11 in Semi
Final 1 with 41 points basically, just missing out a place in the Grand
Final. JP had the pleasure to meet Eduard again right after his
rehearsal and the Press Conference in the Vienna Press Centre. You can
hear this interview on this week's edition of Radio
International.
