Eurovision's Greatest Hits: On 31 March 2015, the BBC  in collaboration with Swedish TV SVT celebrated the 60th anniversary of the Eurovision Song Contest and  produced a Eurovision Celebration Show staged in London's Eventi, Apollo, Hammersmith. The show is called "Eurovision's Greatest Hits" and featured a large number of previous Eurovision Winning acts such as Loreen, Emmelie de Forest, Lordi, etc. Details of the event can be seen here. To coincide with this special event Radio International will air a large number of Eurovision Greatest Hits during the show but also Radio International aired an interview done in London with John Kennedy O'Connor who published a book  "The Eurovision Song Contest: The Official Celebration" which is out now. Eurovision in Concert 2015 - Interviews: On Saturday, 18 April 2015 Eurovision in Concert 2015 took place in Amsterdam's Melkweg Concert Venue with the participation of 26 Eurovision act, being 24 countries who will compete at the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Vienna, Austria in May. Then Edsilia Rombley (Netherlands 1998 and 2007) as being the co-host of the concert together with Cornald Maas the Dutch TV Commentator of the Eurovision Song Contest and the charming winners of the Eurovision Song Contest 1985 for Norway - The Bobbysocks. Before the concert in the evening there was a Press event where international and national media could meet the participating artists for interviews and photo sessions. Radio International was also represented and interviewed a large number of artists. Over the next three weeks you will hear the result on the show. The London Eurovision 2015 Preview Event took place in the Cafe de Paris in London, the United Kingdom with many artists of the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 and also previous performers. David Mann went to this event and interview a large number of artists which you can hear on this and next week's edition of Radio International. Watch out for interviews with Nicki French (United Kingdom 2000), Kurt Calleja (Malta 2015), Amber (Malta 2015), Melanie Rene (Switzerland 2015), Christer Bjoerkman (Sweden 1992), Ray Caruana of Live Report (United Kingdom 1989), etc.

 

Interview with Electro Velvet (United Kingdom 2015): This year's Ambassadors of the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 is Electro Velvet performing the song "Still in love with you" which is directly qualified for the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest as the United Kingdom is part of the Big 5 countries. Electro Velvet are Bianca Nicholas and Alex Larke and will follow in the footsteps of Molly who last year represented the UK with "Children of the Universe" in Copenhagen coming 17th. The United Kingdom is part of the Eurovision Song Contest since 1957 and has won the contest five times (1967, 1969, 1976, 1981 and 1997). Interview with The Makemakes (Austria 2015):  The Eurovison Song Contest 2014 was won by Austria's Conchita Wurst with the song "Rise like a Phoenix" which means the host country and city for the 2015 edition of the contest takes place in Vienna, Austria and the Makemakes is the group that will be representing Austria on homeground with the song "I am yours" which is placed to compete in the Grand Final at Number 14 since Austria won the contest last year they are automatically qualified to be in the Grand Final. Austria has been taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest since 1957 and won it twice. First time in 1966 with the late Udo Juergens and "Merci Cherie" and then of course Conchita Wurst in 2014. Interview with Knez (Montenegro 2015):  Eurovision would be not Eurovision when there is no Balkan Ballad in the contest. In 2014 Montenegro sent in Sergey Cetkovic who with "Moj Svijet" successfully qualified his country for the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 and ranked at Number 19 at the end of the voting. In 2015 Montenegro decided to stay with this successful music style and send in Knez to represent Montenegro with the song "Adio" written by Zeljko Joksimovic who himself represented Serbia and Montenegro twice as singer and for Bosnia & Herzegovina as composer in 2006 achiving a remarkable Number 3. In 2015 Montenegro will be starting from Number 4 in Semi Final 4. Radio International met Knez at Eurovision in Concert 2015 for an interview and it is broadcast on this week's edition of the show. Interview with Morland and Debrah Scarlett (Norway 2015):  Norway won the Eurovision Song Contest three times with Bobbysocks in 1985 "La det swinge", in 1996 with Secret Garden and "Nocturne" and in 2009 with Alexander Rybak's "Fairytale". Carl Espen represented Norway in 2014 with "The Silent Storm" reaching Number 8 and following in the footsteps of Carl Espen is Morland and Debrah Scarlett who will be representing Norway with the song "A Monster like me" in Semi Final 2 at Song Number 6. Interview with Monika and Vaidas (Lithuania 2015):  Lithuania's best ever result at the Eurovision Song Contest was in 2006 when LT United reached a remarkable Number 6 in the Grand Final with the song "We are the Winnes of Eurovision". Will "This Time" Lithuania be topping this result with Monika and Vaidas as they represent Lithuania with the song "This Time" opening up Semi Final 2. Interview with Maraaya (Slovenia 2015):  In 2014 Slovenia successfully qualified for the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest and ranked at Number 25 at the end of the voting. Tinkara Kovac performed "Spet / Round and Round". Let's see if the Maraya can better that result with the song "Here for you" which will start in Semi Final 2 at Number 16. Slovenia has been taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest since 1993 and the best ever result achived was in 2001 with Nusa Derenda and the song "Energy". Maraaya is a musical husband and wife and will perform their entry with a set of headphones on. Interview with Elhaida Dani (Albania 2015): 2015 sees the 12th participation of Albania at the Eurovision Song Contest and this honour goes to Elhaida Dani who will representing Albania with the song "I'm alive" in Semi Final 1 at Song Number 14. Albania's highest achievement at the Eurovision Song Contest was in 2012 when Rona Nishliu placed Albania at Number 5 in the Grand Final with the song "Suus" in Baku. Eurovision Song Contest Spotlight - Eurovision 2015 in Regions:  For the next few weeks the Eurovision Experts of Radio International will be taking a look at the 2015 Eurovision entries per region and this week Ross Bennett continues with the Eurovision countries that are competing at the Eurovision Song Contest 2015. This week hear the songs from The East: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Romania and Russia In addition, each week our correspondents will be asked to tell us their personal favourite but also their tip what could actually win the Eurovision Song Contest 2015.  

Eurovision UnderCover:  This ever so popular feature on Radio International is David Mann's weekly edition of the Eurovision Cover Versions where David Mann from Eurovision Norwich will be intoducing some of the finest Eurovision Song Contest entries covered by other singers. Just be surprised. You will be hearing the actual song that has been on the Eurovision stage followed by the cover. Listeners are encouraged to send in their cover versions they came across over the years to share with the other fans tuning into the show. Alternatively, listeners can send in their request for a particular Eurovision covered song using this link. 

Eurovision Song Contest News: Nathan Waddell joins the team in the studio every week to bring you the news and the latest developments connected to the Eurovision Song Contest such as the National Finals or if it is music releases of Eurovision performers, special concerts, gossip, etc Nathan will have it all for us during the weekly edition of Radio International. New Song Releases by Eurovision Artists:  Radio International is always keen to know how the careers of Eurovision performers develop after their performance at the event. The show is in collaboration with many Music Companies that supply Radio International with the latest songs of their signed up artists to bring the muisc closer to the fans. On a weekly basis Radio International receives songs which are being featured on the show.
