Interview with Kirsten Siggard from Hot Eyes (Denmark 1984, 1985 and 1988):
October is the usual month when OGAE UK hold their annual convention
entitled EUROBASH and 2014 was no exception. The event took place in the
Holiday Inn in the City Centre of Birmingham with the participation of Martyn Ford who conducted the entries of Cyprus at the Eurovision Song Contest 1982 and 1986, then Ray Caruana from Live Report reaching a remarkable runner up position in the Eurovision Song Contest 1989 with the song "Why do I always get it wrong". And last but not least a lady that represented Denmark together with her then singing partner Soeren as Hot Eyes three
times at the Eurovision Song Contest. She was pregnant on stage on two
of the three occasions firstly in 1984 when Hot Eyes came fourth with
the song "Det' lige det (That's just it)". The year after, 1985, they came 11th with the song "Sku' du spoerg fra no'en (What business is it of yours?)" and then in 198, performed highly pregnant the song "Ka' du se hva' jeg sa' (Can you see what I said?)"
which came third. The Team of Radio International had the big pleasure
to meet the singer for an interview you can hear on this week's edition
of the show. Due to Human Error this interview was not aired on this week's edition of the show and will be broadcast in next week's edition of Radio International. We do apologize any inconvenience this might have caused.
Interview with Joeran from Aarzemnieki (Latvia 2014): They had a " Cake to Bake" at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen, however, could not qualify Latvia for the Grand Final and ranked at Number 13 in Semi Final 1 - Aarzemnieki - fronted by Joeran from Germany the Team of Radio International met Joeran at the Eurovision Live Concert 2014 in Setubal, Portugal last September and conducted an interview that you can hear in this week's edition of the show. Enjoy the funny bunch! :)
Interview with Omar Naber (Slovenia 2005): The
Annual Eurovision Live Concert 2014 took place on Friday and Saturday 12
& 13 September 2014 in Setubal, Portugal organised by the
Municipality of Setubal and OGAE Portugal where many Portuguese and
International Eurovision performers sang their entry to the Eurovision
Song Contest and/or their national final entry. Members of the Team of
Radio International were there and interviewed some of the performers. Another one of the artists performing was Slovenia's Omar Naber who back in 2005 performed "Stop"
in Kiev, Ukraine sadly failed to qualify for the Grand Final of the
Eurovision Song Contest as reached Number 12 in the Semi Final when
only the Top Ten make it to the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song
Contest. JP chatted with the
singer at the pre-party of the event. You can hear this interview on
this week's edition of Radio International.
Interview with Esther Hart (Netherlands 2003): Also one
of the Star Guests of this year's edition of the Eurovision Live
Concert in Setubal, Portugal was the Dutch entrant from 2003 - Esther Hart who with "One more night"
reached a remarkable Number 13 in Riga, Latvia. Esther also hosted the
2013 edition of Eurovision in Concert and runs a music school in
Rotterdam. The Team of Radio International met the singer after her
performance at the Eurovision Live Concert 2014 in the Foyer of the
Auditorium Luisa Todi in Setubal where fans could also meet the singers
and take their photo with them and collect their autograph. JP chatted
with Esther in an interview you can hear on this week's edition of Radio
International. Due to inserting a
Tribute to the late Lindsey de Pau who passed away two weeks ago last
week's show was slightly changed and the interview with Esther Hart was
rescheduled for this week's edition of the show.
Eurovision Song Contest Spotlight - Austria in Eurovision: With
the start of a new quarter there is also a start with a new feature on
Radio International which takes us right to the National Selections to
the Eurovision Song Contest 2015. Austria initially won the Eurovision Song
Contest in 1966 for the very first time with Udo Juergens singing "Merci Cherie" and then the second victory came in 2014 with Conchita Wurst and "Rise like a Phoenix"
and with this will be hosting the 2015 edition of the Eurovision Song
Contest. As in previous years the Eurovision Spotlight has reflected on
the songs of the next host country and this year is no exception. The
Radio International Eurovision Experts will be
taking a look at Austria's history at the Eurovision Song Contest. The
new series continues this week with Chris Poppe. Enjoy the flashback into Austria's entries to the Eurovision Song Contest.
Lynsey de Paul Tribute: As we heard on last week's edition of Eurovision Radio International, David Mann broadcast a Tribute Special on the late Lynsey de Paul who sadly passed away too soon. She took part in the Eurovision Song Contest 1977 representing the United Kingdom with her singing partner Mike Moran performing "Rock Bottom" which came second after Marie Myriam from France. Radio International's Chris Poppe had a special link to Lynsey and has written a Tribute on his website called The Real Chrisparkle. Click on the link and follow the story of Linsey de Paul and written by Chris Poppe.
Eurovision UnderCover: Last week, Radio International started a brand new series on the show featuring Eurovision Cover Versions where David Mann from Eurovision Norwich
will be intoducing some of the finest Eurovision Song Contest
entries covered by other singers. Just be surprised. You will be hearing
the actual song that has been on the Eurovision stage followed by the
cover. Enjoy the brand new series. Listeners are encouraged to send in
their cover versions they came across over the years to share with the
other fans tuning into the show. Alternatively, listeners can send in
their request for a particular Eurovision covered song using this link. David Mann's been digging deep in his treasure box for this week's Eurovision Cover song. Don't miss it!
