Fridrik Omar releases "Outside the Ring"
ImageFridrik Omar's fifth solo album, Outside The Ring contains 10 new songs, 9 written by Fridrik himself. The new songs were all written Sweden and Iceland in the last 2 years, and as Fridrik has a way to express himself through music the album covers the whole emotional scale. “I just had to get this out and decided an album was the best way to do it,” says Fridrik about Outside the Ring.

The album release concert was held in Harpa – Reykjavik Concert Hall and Conference Center earlier this month. There Fridrik performed "inside the ring" as the stage was in the centre of the room and surrounded by the audience. “The form gets you closer to the audience, and the performance becomes more intimate. It means that at any given time during the concert, you gain eye contact with someone in the audience,” Fridrik replies when asked about this unusual setting. “I’m extremely happy with the album’s reception, because I was very nervous about this. It’s the first time I release an album almost entirely by myself, so it’s more personal and closer to me than my other albums.”

Outside the Ring is already available on iTunes, and CDs are available on Fridrik’s web page, fridrikomar.com.
