ImageInterview Lys Assia - The very first Winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 1956 for Switzerland:  OGAE Sweden organised their annual Fanclub Convention on 13 October 2012 in the municipalty of Eskilstuna near Stockholm in Sweden. National and International artists were invited to this event such as Joan Franka (Netherlands 2012), Glen Vella (Malta 2011), SINPLUS (Switzerland 2012), Esther Hart (Netherlands 2012), Birgitta Haukdahl (Iceland 2003) and the Mother of the Eurovision Song Contest - the very first Winner LYS ASSIA who back in 1956 won the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Refrain". Lys attempted to obtain the ticket to the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 with a Ralph Siegel composition called "C'etait ma vie" which came 8th in the Swiss National Final 2012, though SINPLUS won with the song "Unbreakable" and represented Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku. Lys Assia represented Switzerland three times in the 50s: "Refrain" in 1956 which was the winning song of the very first Eurovision Song Contest, then she returned the year after with the song "L'enfant que j'etait" wich came 8th and then in 1958 she ranked Switzerland 2nd with "Giorgio". Now she wants to try again to represent Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 with a very modern composition called "All in your head" performed by Lys Assia feat New Jack. The Swiss National Selection is planned to take place on 15 December 2012 in Kreuzlingen, Switzerland. The Team of Radio International was in Eskilstuna, Sweden and conducted interviews with the invited Eurovision artists including with the Grand Dame of the Eurovision Song Contest - Lys Assia. ImageA New Eurovision Radio Show for Malta - EUROMIX on Radju Malta 93,7 FM - Interview with the host of the show: Frederick Zammit:  Just a couple of weeks ago Radju Malta which is the radio division of TVM (Television Malta) gave birth to a brand new radio show called EUROMIX which is a show in Maltese all around the Eurovision Song Contest hosted by Frederick Zammit who will be joining the Team of Radio International in the studio to talk about this new radio show made for the fans of the Eurovision Song Contest.  Fredrick will tell us all about the show and upcoming plans and the purpose of the show.  Malta's Euromix airs every Friday evening at 2030 - 2200 hours CET on Radju Malta which is available also online.
 
ImageHome Composed Song Contest 2012 - YOUR VOTES ARE NEEDED:  As in previous years Radio International supports the Home Composed Song Contest which is a songwriters competition across Europe and beyond. 2012 marks the 21st edition of the Song Contest and the 2011 edition was won by Denmark and this year's edition is hosted by Spain. Contact the website of the Home Composed Song Contest to find out further details. Samuel Bugia Garrido and his team is ready to guide you through the contest. The 10 October 2012 was the deadline for submissions of the songs and a total of 22 songs were submitted to compete in this contest. The listeners of Radio International are encouraged to take part in votingof this annual contest. All you have to do is to listen to the song and pick your ten favourites and award the points in Eurovision style 1 (least favourite), 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10 and 12 points (most favourite) and submit your Top Ten ranking to Radio International . ImageEurovision Song Contest Spotlight - Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest: The latest series continuous where Radio International correspondants take a look at the entries of Sweden to the Eurovision Song Contest. Sweden won the Eurovision Song Contest five times kicking off with ABBA's "Waterloo" in 1974, followed by the Herreys ten years on in 1984 with "Diggi-Loo Diggi-Ley". Then with Carola in 1991 when she won with "Captured by a love storm". Swedish success continued in 1999 when Charlotte Nilssson took the honours with "Take me to your heaven" and in 2012 Loreen took the trophy in Baku for the Winning Song "Euphoria". But what about the other great Swedish entries that did not win. It is time to check them out on Radio International over the next few weeks.  This week Alasdair Rendall will be joining the team in the studio to take a look at the early days of Swedish entries which will be 1969 till 1974.
