ImageInterview with Lys Assia (Switzerland 1956, 1957 & 1968): The Mother of the Eurovision Song Contest as Lys Assia is the very first Winner when it all kicked off in the Teatro Kursal in Lugo Switzerland back in 1956 when seven countries competed for the very first trophy. Each country performed two songs. Lys Assia became the Winner for Switzerland with herthen French language entry called "Refrain". It is now known where her second entry "Das alte Karussel"  ended up in the very first Eurovision Song Contest. She then represented Switzerland in the following two years in 1957 with "L'enfant Que J'etais" which reached Number 8 and in 1958 Lys Assia came second with "Giorgio". In 2012 she attempted again to represent her native Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest with a Ralph Siegel composition called "C'etait ma vie" which came 8th in the Swiss National Selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2012. Lys Assia as the "Mother" of the Eurovision Song Contest likes to be with her "Family" and is very often a guest of honour during the Grand Final. Also the 2012 event was no exception and just before the Loreen's Winner's Press Conference JP met Lys Assia and did an interview with her which you can hear during this week's edition of Radio International. 

ImageInterview with Gaitana (Ukraine 2012): The host of the 2005 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest - Ukraine - was represented by bubbly and energetic Gaitana with the song "Be my guest" which successfully went from the Semi Final into the Grand Final and ther it ended up at Number 16. Lilian, Roger and JP had the pleasure to meet Gaitana in the Baku Press Centre right after her Press Conference and conducted an interview with the Ukrainian artist. You can hear this interview during this week's edition of Radio International but in addition also she already has released a follow-on single onto the music market which Radio International will also feature on the show this week. 
 
ImageEurovision Weekend in Berlin, Germany - Interview with Salman Tanzeem:  OGAE Finland, OGAE Germany and EC Germany are organising the first every international Eurovision Weekend in Berlin from Friday - Sunday, 03 - 05 August 2012. Full details will be available during the interview with Salman Tanzeem who will be joining Radio International from Berlin to tell us all about this special Eurovision event held in the Germany's capitol for a whole weekend. Already some details are available here.  
 
ImageEurovision Song Contest Spotlight - The Host Entries:  After reflecting on the 57th Eurovision Song Contest over the past weeks Radio International now continuous to present a brand new series with the Eurovision experts in the UK and Ireland to take you through the summer. The new series is taking a look at the entries to the Eurovision Song Contest by the countries that were hosting the contest e.g. this year the Eurovision Song Contest came from Azerbaijan and the Azeri entry = Host Entry is Sabina Babayeva. This week it is the turn of Alasdair Rendall who will be joining the team in the studio from London to take a look at the host entries of 1965,  1974, , 1975, 1984, 1994 and 2004. 
   
ImageEuro Friends Song Contest 2012 - The Quarter Finals with Andy Simon:  Andy is on his well-earned summer vacation which means that the next time he will be on Radio International will be on 08 August 2012 when he will reveal the qualifiers of Eight Final 2 & 3 of what then has been voting for by the fans of Eurovision. The Euro Friends Song Contest is in search for the ultimate Eurovision song as voted for by the many fans around the world. ImageHome Composed Song Contest 2012 - Call out for submissions:  As in previous years Radio International supports the Home Composed Song Contest which is a songwriters competition across Europe and beyond. 2012 marks the 21st edition of the Song Contest and the 2011 edition was won by Denmark and this year's edition is hosted by Spain. Contact the website of the Home Composed Song Contest to find out further details how to submit your entries and also what the schedule looks like.
