ImageThe Teams spent two weeks in Duesseldorf at the Media Centre taking part at the various countries' press conferences and rehearsals and interviewing the many artists that were taking part in this year's Eurovision Song Contest. Over the next weeks you will hear these interviews on Radio International and some stories from the Eurovision Song Contest 2011. Way over 35000 spectators in the Esprit Arena followed Europe's biggest music extravaganza uniting countries from all around Europe and beyond in one single TV Show - The Eurovision Song Contest. NDR & ARD Television were the Host Broadcaster doing an outstanding job in getting the show transmitted to the many million viewers around the world. Also many former Eurovision performers visited the Media Centre in Duesseldorf which was a great plus as well. Artists such as former winners Alexander Rybak and the Olson Brothers and of course not to be forgotten, the Emperor of Eurovision - Mr. Johnny Logan. For the results and more trivia on Eurovision go to the Radio International Eurovision Database by clicking here.  For an extensive look at the Photo Collection click here.

ImageInterview with Alexander Rybak (Eurovision Winner 2009, Norway): Alexander Rybak, the Winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 for Norway with the highest ever achieved score of 387 points was working as a journalist for Norway in the the Media Centre of the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest. Of course his present attracted the many journalists already there. Also for Radio International as Eric and JP took the chance to have an interview with the former Eurovision Song Contest Winner. Alexander Rybak performed "Fairytale" for Norway in Moscow in 2009.

ImageInterview with Maja Keuc (Slovenia 2011):  Slovenia was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 by the 19 year old Maja Keuc and the song "No One" which originally was called "Vanilija". Maja could - after so many years - qualify Slovenia to the Grand Final of the 56th Eurovision Song Contest and reached a remarkable 13th place with 96 points. The Team of Radio International already had the pleasure to meet the singer at Eurovision in Concert and did an interview there which you can hear on this week's editiion of Radio International.

ImageInterview with Yueksek Sadakat (Turkey 2011):   Probably the biggest shock for many fans to the Eurovision Song Contest and a first time ever that Turkey is not in the Final of the Eurovision Song Contest. Turkey was represented by a rockband called Yueksek Sadakat and their song is called "Live it up" which only reach Number 14 with 47 poins in the Semi Final 1. However, a great live band as it could be seen in the Euroclub when Yueksek Sadakat were the hosts of the evening. The Team of Radio International has the pleasure to meet and interview the Turkish Rockers in the Netherlands at Eurovision in Concert 2011. Listen to that interview during this week's edition of the show. Due to the large number of requests we received during the show this interview has not been broadcast and will be moved to next week's edition of Radio International. Sorry for the inconvenience.

ImageInterview with Senit (San Marino 2011):  San Marino's history at the Eurovision Song Contest is still very young. The country initially decided to join in 2008 with Mio Dio's "Complice" and in 2009 and 2010 they took a break to return in 2011 with the lovely Senit from Eritrean decent. Senit sings the very beautiful entry "Stand by" which unfortunately, failed to qualify for the Grand Final. San Marino only reached Number 16 with 34 points in Semi Final 1. Eric and JP from Radio International had the pleasure to meet the artist also at the Eurovision in Concert 2011 in Amsterdam for an interview which you can hear on this week's edition of Radio International.
