The Teams spent two weeks in Duesseldorf at the Media Centre taking part
at the various countries' press conferences and rehearsals and
interviewing the many artists that were taking part in this year's
Eurovision Song Contest. Over the next weeks you will hear these
interviews on Radio International and some stories from the Eurovision
Song Contest 2011. Way over 35000 spectators in the Esprit Arena
followed Europe's biggest music extravaganza uniting countries from all
around Europe and beyond in one single TV Show - The Eurovision Song
Contest. NDR & ARD Television were the Host Broadcaster doing an
outstanding job in getting the show transmitted to the many million
viewers around the world. Also many former Eurovision performers visited
the Media Centre in Duesseldorf which was a great plus as well. Artists
such as former winners Alexander Rybak and the Olson Brothers and of
course not to be forgotten, the Emperor of Eurovision - Mr. Johnny

Interview with the Winners of the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 - Eldar & Nigar (Azerbaijan): Congratulations go to Azerbaijan who won the 56th Eurovision Song Contest with Eldar & Nigar and the song "Running scared"
receiving a total of 221 points in the Grand Final on Saturday, 14 May
2011. The Team had the great pleasure to interview Eldar & Nigar in
the run up to the Semi Finals. Listen to it during this week's edition
of Radio International.
Interview with Raphael Gualazzi (Italy 2011): Italy made a
comeback this year after an absence of 14 years with Jalisse being the
last Italian entry since 1997 with the song "Fiumi di Parole". In 2011,
Italy returned with Raphael Gualazzi who very successfully managed to reach a remarkable Runners Up Position with the song "Follia d'Amore", meaning "Madness of love". The Team of Radio International had a pleasure and chance to meet this charming singer for a short interview.
Interview with Eric Saade (Sweden 2011): After Sweden's failure at the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest - the country is now back on top with Eric Saade who achieved a respectable 3rd place at the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest with the glass-breaking "Popular"
song he performed on Saturday, 14 May 2011 in the Grand Final. Swedish
Television arranged an interview session to which the Team of Radio
International also went. Listen to that interview during this week's
show as well.
Interview with Dino Merlin (Bosni & Herzegovina 2011): A great result for Dino Merlin who represented Bosnia & Herzegovina at the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Love in rewind" which reached a remarkable 6th. This is his third attempt at the contest as in 1993 Dino attended as the author of the entry of his country and then his first singing attempt at the Eurovision Song Contest was in 1999 when together with Beatrix he came 7th with the song "Putnici". Eric and JP of Radio International had the chance of a short interview with one of Bosnia's biggest singers - Dino Merlin.

Chris Poppe takes a look back at the event from last Saturday - the
56th Eurovision Song Contest from Duesseldorf and plays some of the
